Protect people first

A hurt worker is the worst waste a shop can make. Safety is not a poster. It is the job, planned.

Name the hazards on this job before anyone starts — traffic, lift, chemical, height, weather.
Give people the gear the job actually needs, and use it. Spare pairs in the truck count.
Do not send a tired or untrained person into a live lane, a lift, or a confined space.
Stop the work when the plan is wrong. Restarting is cheaper than an incident.
Keep a first-aid kit, emergency numbers, and a way to call out from every site.

Waste less on purpose

Green work for a small business is usually just refusing to throw trips, product, and time away.

Do not roll a truck half empty if another operator on the network can fill it.
Confirm the drop, the window, and the access before the wheels turn.
Order material to the job, not to a pile that will sit and spoil.
Keep what can be reused. Scrap what is actually spent — not what was badly staged.
Say no to work that only pays if you skip maintenance, rest, or a legal load.

Deal fairly

Broken payment is how good jobs become waste. Hold the money. Write the scope. Close cleanly.

Write what “done” means before work starts. Milestones beat vague handshakes.
Hold funds in escrow when the job is large enough to hurt either side.
Do not start extra work without a change that both sides can see.
Pay people who did the work. Do not use float from one job to cover another.
If something went wrong, say so early. Silence is how small problems become dumps and disputes.
